Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Project Manager to lead substation design projects ranging from 12-kV to 500-kV in the Chicago, IL area. You will oversee all aspects from concept to closeout, including environmental, permitting, planning, engineering, procurement and construction management, with responsibility for project P&L and client relations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience; PE and PMP are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 7+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in project management.
• PE registration preferred.
• PMP certification preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.
• Provide end-to-end project management from concept to closeout including siting, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, ROW, procurement, construction and closeout.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope and control costs.
• Assist with internal project financials, staffing, risk management, change management and HR issues.
• Act as primary client contact and coordinate with owner, subcontractors, regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
• Manage all project communications and reporting on progress, cost and schedule metrics.
• Implement project policies, controls, and the execution plan; ensure QA/QC compliance.
• Collaborate with the project team to ensure client satisfaction and successful delivery.
