Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Substation Engineer to develop design deliverables for new and modified high-voltage substations from 13kV to 765kV. You will work under a licensed PE, contributing to design packages, calculations, relaying and control, and field support.

The role emphasizes collaboration with project teams, adherence to IEEE/NESC standards, and strong client communication. ABET degree with 3 years’ experience is required; EIT/FE is preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in electrical or related engineering.
• 3 years of substation engineering experience, consulting preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office).
• Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Supports substation projects from concept to completion.
• Prepares and develops substation design packages and calculations.
• Performs design quality reviews and supports QA/QC.
• Assists with project proposals and client presentations.
• Works with project team to meet schedule and client satisfaction.
