Job summary

HDR Engineering is seeking a Substation Project Engineer to join our growing Power Delivery team. The role covers physical substation, protection, and control engineering for high voltage projects ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV, with global opportunities.

You will help prepare scopes, schedules, and budgets, coordinate design activities across departments, and mentor less-experienced engineers while ensuring timely, quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• PE license required or eligible.
• 3 years of project execution in the Power Market Sector.
• Proficiency in MS Office and Power Market design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
• Commitment to employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Support scope, schedule, and budget development and monitor progress.
• Understand physical substation design, grounding, protection, and control systems.
• Develop calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lighting protection, load studies).
• Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and testing.
• Coordinate design activities with Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission teams.
• Communicate effectively with management, clients, and team members.
• Mentor and supervise junior EITs and Designers when needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
