Job summary

Michels Power, Inc. is seeking a Preconstruction Project Manager - Substations to lead the preconstruction phase of utility, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and EPC substation projects.

You will coordinate with business development, estimating, engineering, procurement, contracts, and operations to ensure projects are properly evaluated, budgeted, and prepared for successful execution. The role requires strong organizational and leadership abilities, with a focus on safe,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of preconstruction, project management, estimating, or procurement experience.
• Experience supporting utility substations, transmission, or EPC projects.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of BIM, design coordination, and project delivery methods preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement planning, and risk assessment.
• Coordinate handoffs across BD, estimating, engineering, procurement, contracts, and operations.
• Facilitate bid reviews, kickoff meetings, and startup readiness reviews.
• Support contract review and procurement coordination; ensure alignment of terms.
• Ensure readiness and smooth transition from preconstruction to operations.
• Monitor project readiness metrics and compliance requirements such as IRA and wage laws.
