Job summary

Michels Power, Inc. is seeking a Preconstruction Project Manager - Substations to lead the preconstruction phase for utility, transmission, renewable energy, battery energy storage, and EPC substation projects.

You will coordinate across Business Development, Estimating, Engineering, Procurement, Contracts, Project Controls, Operations, and Field Leadership to ensure readiness for execution. You will manage scope, budgets, schedules, procurement planning, and risk reviews, ensuring smooth

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 3+ years of PM/estimation experience.
• Experience supporting utility substation, transmission, renewable energy, or EPC projects.
• Strong budgeting, scheduling, procurement coordination, and risk management skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction planning including scope, budgets, scheduling, and procurement planning.
• Coordinate handoffs between business development, estimating, engineering, procurement, and operations.
• Facilitate bid reviews, kickoff meetings, and readiness assessments.
• Support contract review and ensure consistency in terms and project requirements.
• Coordinate permitting, subcontracting, and mobilization readiness activities.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies for safe, profitable execution.
