Job summary

Sargent Lundy is seeking a Substation Physical Designer to join a project team working on high and extra high voltage substations. You will produce detailed drawings such as General Arrangement, Equipment Plans, Section Views, BOMs, and grounding/lighting plans.

You will interpret vendor data and perform client site walkdowns to ensure design fidelity. The role emphasizes 3D visualization, adherence to client standards, and collaboration with engineers and other designers within a hybrid work

Qualifications

• 3 or more years of substation physical design experience.
• Associate’s Degree in Drafting, or a high school diploma with 2+ years of drafting coursework or equivalent.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare substation drawings: General Arrangement, Electrical Equipment Plans, Section Views and BOM.
• Create Conduit, Grounding, and Lighting plans and related details.
• Incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.
• Perform walkdowns at client facilities and ensure compliance with client standards.
