Job summary

CENTRAL MAINE POWER CO, a unit of Avangrid, seeks a Substation Operations leader to supervise skilled workers and drive safe construction, maintenance, and operation of substations. You will oversee switching coordination, protection equipment, and system reliability while ensuring adherence to safety, budgets and corporate standards.

You will coordinate with related departments, manage budgets, and oversee capital projects, automation initiatives, and customer-focused reliability goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years relevant experience preferred.
• Associate degree with 7+ years relevant experience or high school with progression program and 10 years relevant experience.
• Knowledge of electrical or mechanical technology, substation equipment, control circuits and protection devices.
• Knowledge of facility systems (electrical/HVAC/energy management) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, assigns, and directs work of Substation Operations personnel and manages local department budgets.
• Oversees substation construction, modification and maintenance projects, including capital and automation initiatives.
• Responsible for transmission and bulk power delivery systems and reliability programs.
• Implements preventative maintenance aligned with reliability goals and regulatory targets.
• Coordinates with related departments, contractors and Substation Automation teams.
• Trains personnel in protection devices, switching, tagging and safety practices.
• Monitors performance, conducts appraisals, and supports labor relations and incident responses.
