Job summary

Overland Contracting Inc. is hiring a Substation Helper 3 to support journeymen in planning, installation, testing and repair of substation systems on a full-time basis in Mississippi. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork on critical infrastructure projects.

You will handle conduit, cable, grounding, and high/low voltage tasks, learn layouts from plans, and participate in on-site training while adhering to all plans, specs, and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience working on substations or as an electrician helper.
• Must have all necessary tools (see Substation Helper Tool List) and be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assist journeyman in planning, lay-out, installation, testing and repair of substation construction per plans and codes.
• Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble and install conduits, cables and duct banks; dig ditches as needed.
• Install control and distribution equipment, grounding leads, and pull wire; work with high/low voltage systems.
• Test circuits for continuity and safety; participate in safety programs; follow lockout/tagout procedures.
• Coordinate work with other crafts; participate in on-the-job training; read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Observe equipment operation to identify hazards and take corrective action; report incidents.
