Job summary

Michels Power, Inc. is seeking a Preconstruction Manager - Substation Estimating to lead preconstruction activities and provide technical SME guidance across utility, transmission, renewable, and EPC substation programs.

The role focuses on estimate development, constructability reviews, and risk evaluation to position projects for successful execution. You will mentor estimating professionals, collaborate with operations, engineering, procurement, and business development teams, and travel up

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
• 10+ years in substation construction, engineering, project management, estimating, or EPC.
• Experience leading preconstruction efforts and estimate development.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, one-line diagrams, and electrical layouts.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation preconstruction activities and provide technical oversight during pursuits.
• Serve as SME for substation estimating, constructability reviews, and execution planning.
• Support estimating teams with planning, technical reviews, and proposal preparation.
• Review specs, drawings, and requirements to ensure complete, accurate estimates.
• Identify project risks and develop strategies to improve competitiveness and execution.
