Job summary

Qualus seeks a Substation Physical Engineering Manager to lead and grow a dedicated engineering team, shaping technical strategy and delivering impactful power system solutions. You will supervise engineers, coordinate with the Engineering Director, and work with clients to develop reliable substation projects while ensuring QA/QC and project backlog alignment.

The role may be based in multiple U.S. locations, including Raleigh, NC, with focus on delivering scalable, high-quality engineering

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil).
• Minimum 5 years in management within the energy sector.
• Experience in Utility Substation engineering.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, supervise, and develop engineers; manage performance and training.
• Provide technical oversight of engineers and ensure QA/QC across projects.
• Coordinate work with multiple engineering offices and resources.
• Develop relationships with senior clients and executives.
• Lead cross-training for multi-client efficiency and scale.
• Support business development to maintain a strong backlog.
• Present technical solutions to customers and address questions.
• Forecast engineering requirements and plan training.
• Attend project kickoff meetings to define scope, schedule, and safety.
• Review time sheets and project expenses for accuracy.
