Job summary

Halker Consulting is seeking a technically credible Substation Engineering Manager to lead a portion of our electrical engineering team supporting utility and power-delivery projects. You will be the go-to technical resource in Substation Physical Design or Protection and Controls and will guide execution, design quality, and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred, especially for consulting backgrounds.
• 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience in utility substation, power delivery, or power distribution environments.
• Strong knowledge of substation configurations, system protection, power-system analysis, and utility project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a portion of the electrical engineering team across substation and power-delivery work.
• Serve as a SME in Substation Physical Design, Protection and Controls, or Communications/SCADA, focusing on Physical Design or P&C.
• Guide technical execution, design quality, schedules, budgets, resource planning, and compliance for utility substation projects.
• Evaluate active projects and team capacity; identify opportunities to improve workflow and support engineers.
• Build client relationships and contribute technical perspective to growth and market strategy.
• Mentor engineers and foster collaboration across specialties to grow the team.
