Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) is seeking an experienced Substation Engineer to design, analyze, and implement economical substation improvements. This role involves coordinating design, construction, and testing activities while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and NOVEC policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in the electric power industry; PE licensure preferred.
• NCEES EIT certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops accurate and economical substation construction drawings using computer-aided design software.
• Prepares protective equipment specifications and switching orders as required.
• Analyzes power outages and disturbances to recommend system improvements.
• Coordinates design, construction, and testing for substation additions and improvements.
• Provides support to System Operations and adheres to restoration plans.
