Toth and Associates, Inc. in Springfield, MO is seeking a Substation Engineer I/II to support planning, design, and implementation of electrical substation projects for utilities, industrial, and renewable energy clients. You will work under a PE and PMs to develop constructible, code‑compliant designs while growing technical depth.

Requirements include a BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET), 0–4 years of experience, and proficiency in NEC/NESC/IEEE/ANSI standards. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) is required.
• 0–4 years of experience in electrical engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Support design of physical substation components including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, raceways, and AC/DC power systems.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists and panel layouts.
• Create design drawings, calculations, and bills of material from engineering docs for planning, construction, operation and maintenance.
• Perform engineering calculations including voltage drop, cable pulling, flicker analysis, and grounding analysis.
• Apply NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards to ensure compliant project execution.
• Conduct quality reviews to check for inaccuracies and compliance issues; provide recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop solutions and modifications as needed.
• Maintain detailed project documentation and support engineering calculations.
• Identify and raise potential project issues and solutions to stakeholders.
• Travel out of town for short periods as required by projects.
