Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation Engineer to join our national Power Delivery team. You will lead physical substation design, protection and control engineering for 12 kV through 500 kV projects, from upgrades to large transmission substations across the globe.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, a PE license, and experience in project execution in the Power Market Sector, with proficiency in MS Office and design software such as PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe and Revit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (PE).
• Experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).

Responsibilities

• Prepare scopes, schedules, and budgets and ensure they are met.
• Understand physical substation design, grounding, protection, and control layouts.
• Prepare calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lighting protection, AC/DC load studies).
• Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and testing.
• Coordinate design activities with Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission teams.
• Mentor less-experienced staff and supervise as needed.
