Job summary

HDR Engineering is seeking a Substation Structural Engineer to join our growing Power Delivery team. You will lead structural design and analysis for high-voltage substation projects up to 500kV, coordinating with PMs and teams in multiple offices to deliver robust, code-compliant solutions.

You will review, mentor, and guide others while contributing to best-practice development and occasional presentations at industry events. Travel may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and PE license required.
3+ years of technical design experience in high voltage switchyards/substations.
Experience with steel structural design and foundations for >=500 kV projects.
Knowledge of AISC-360, ASCE-7, ACI-318 and related codes.
Proficiency with STAAD, RISA, MFAD, L-Pile, PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit, Mathcad.
Experience coordinating with PMs and multi-location teams.

Responsibilities

Lead and perform structural design tasks for substation components and foundations.
Prepare calculations, drawings, and specifications for fabrication/submittal.
Coordinate with PMs and field teams across locations to ensure quality.
Mentor junior engineers and support development of standards.
Support multiple projects concurrently and travel as needed.
