Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Technician to join the substation maintenance team in Paarl, Western Cape. You will perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure reliable power distribution and safety in a critical infrastructure hub.

The role requires a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) with at least 3 years of substations experience, high-voltage know-how, and strong safety discipline.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in a substation.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage equipment and substation operations.
• Proficiency with electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Commitment to safety and proactive problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and maintain substation equipment including transformers, breakers, and switchgear.
• Perform preventive maintenance per schedules and procedures.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults within substation environments.
• Assist installation and commissioning of new substation components.
• Maintain safety and record-keeping of maintenance activities.
