Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Substation Technician to join our client’s operations in Welkom. This hands-on role focuses on maintenance, testing, and repair of HV substation equipment to ensure reliable power flow and network integrity.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as Substation Technician or similar.
• Proficient with high-voltage test equipment.
• Knowledge of substation construction, maintenance and safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, test, and repair substation equipment including transformers and breakers.
• Perform diagnostic testing on high-voltage equipment.
• Respond to emergency calls for troubleshooting and repair.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Read schematics and blueprints and follow safety procedures.
