Job summary

BHE GT&S is seeking a Technical Specialist I/II/Sr. Technical Specialist for the Pleasant Valley Station in Centreville, VA. The role covers analysis, testing, and maintenance of electrical distribution, protection, and control systems, with opportunities to lead and train others.

Qualifications

0-2 years of relevant experience for entry level, with progression to higher levels.
Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, protective relaying, and control systems.
Ability to learn and apply engineering fundamentals to solve broadly defined problems.
Effective communication and documentation skills, including basic technical writing.
Willingness to work with safety standards and to operate equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair electrical distribution, protection, and control systems.
Perform comprehensive testing on substation apparatus and analytical tests for reliability.
Operate substation equipment including switching and grounding activities.
Coordinate with Engineering on relay settings and system changes.
Maintain and test relays, meters, recorders, and SCADA controls.
Support preventive maintenance and calibration of station equipment.
Provide guidance and training to junior technicians.
May work independently or in teams, including extended hours during emergencies.
