Job summary

WSP USA in Fort Worth, TX is seeking an Experienced Substation Electrical Engineer to join our Power & Energy Substation Team. You will contribute to the planning, design, and construction support of utility substations, including drawings, calculations, and technical specifications for projects.

You will collaborate with civil/structural teams, develop GA diagrams, grounding/grid designs, and ensure designs meet safety and functionality standards per IEEE/NESC guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 3–5 years of post-education electrical engineering experience in substation design.
  • Knowledge of utility standards and applicable codes (IEEE, NESC).
  • Experience with planning, design, and construction coordination of substations.
  • Ability to coordinate with regulators and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance for planning, design, and construction of substations.
  • Produce one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
  • Develop GA drawings and substation layouts in coordination with other disciplines.
  • Develop grounding grid and lightning protection designs.
  • Prepare design narratives, calculation packages, and engineering reports.
