Job summary

Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services, is seeking a Substation Engineer in Dallas, TX to design substations from 34.5kV to 500kV. You will develop design documents, perform protection & control studies, and ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of substation engineering design; licensure or ability to obtain licensure within a year. Travel may be required; strong analytical and communication skills preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 3+ years of substation engineering design experience; senior roles require more.
• Licensed professional engineer or ability to obtain licensure within 1 year.
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI standards.
• Experience with 138kV+ relays, schematics, and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Create design documents and drawings for substations, including wiring diagrams.
• Perform relay burden, load flow, short circuit calculations with minimal supervision.
• Apply software tools for ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing.
• Review schedules and coordinate with project engineer to stay on track.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI standards in design work.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal teams; travel as required.
• Support field teams with knowledge of substation construction and design.
