Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP in Pasadena, CA seeks a senior Substation Design Lead to guide a design team on large electric utility projects. You will produce general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, conduit and grounding plans, and bill of materials, reporting to the Substation Engineering Manager.

The ideal candidate has a BS in EE, 10+ years in substation design, and proven leadership. California utility experience is preferred; travel may be required; strong CAD skills and QA/QC

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of substation design experience with utilities or consulting firms.
• Experience managing multiple projects in fast-paced environments.
• Strong knowledge of substation systems up to 500 kV, protection and control.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation physical design team and manage schedules.
• Serve as physical design technical lead from concept to detailed design.
• Assign tasks and coordinate workload across engineers, drafters, and designers.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of substation drawings.
• Communicate with project manager, client, and stakeholders.
• Ensure designs comply with client and industry standards.
• Utilize client/company systems to track design activities.
• Attend job-site meetings to gather scope.
• Provide field support during construction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
