Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. seeks an experienced Substation Design Engineer/Project Manager to deliver complex substation projects for a major utility client. You will lead technical execution, coordinate design teams, and ensure code compliance and on-time performance.

The role blends ~70% engineering/project work and ~30% leadership, reporting to the Substation Engineering Manager. Ideal candidate has strong communication, budgeting, and client-management skills; PE preferred but not

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET approved college or university.
• Minimum 8 years of experience working in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Initiate Projects: create scope, budget, and schedule documents.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate engineering/design phases.
• Design, provide quality reviews or technical oversight for deliverables.
• Develop equipment specifications and assemble project documents.
• Oversee designs to satisfy codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Assist in defining project scope and detail level for customers.
• Maintain project status and budget in the reporting system.
• Coordinate resources and communicate with client project managers.
• Mentor design team and collaborate with other departments.
• Support client’s project engineering tools, standards, and processes.
