Job summary

Quanta Services is seeking a Design Engineer - Substation to perform substation design assignments, including physical layouts and protection & control systems, ensuring safety and construction standard compliance. You'll collaborate with engineers and drafters across the QISG platform and report to a Supervising Engineer.

This role requires a Bachelor’s in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components including yard layouts, grounding and protection & control schemes.
• Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists and panel layouts.
• Prepare design drawings, calculations and BOMs for planning, construction, operation and maintenance.
• Perform engineering calculations (voltage drop, cable pulling, grounding analysis).
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and field personnel to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
