Job summary

Southern Company is seeking a Substation Designer to create and modify 2D drawings and 3D models for transmission and distribution substations. You will develop foundation, grounding, conduit, switchgear, and bus layouts while ensuring safety, quality, and cost targets.

The role requires experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, and Autodesk 3D (P4A). Travel to sites and collaboration with engineers and vendors are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent
• 5+ years related industry experience for associate degree path
• Experience with electrical substation design is preferred

Responsibilities

• Create/modify scaled 2D drawings and 3D models for substations
• Design foundations, grounding, conduit, switchgear, and bus layouts
• Specify and order material for substation design packages
• Transmit drawing packages and specs using the transmission engineering system
• Coordinate with engineers and other departments on substation design
