Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Commissioning Area Engineer to coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical substations for utility clients. You will supervise startup personnel and coordinate with contractor electricians and engineering staff to ensure safe, efficient project execution.

Responsibilities include leading testing, developing work plans, and ensuring compliance with project and industry standards. Strong safety focus and 5+ years in HV testing are required.

Qualifications

• BS or 2 year degree in electrical engineering is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical equipment testing and inspection, including high voltage applications.
• Knowledge of testing, commissioning and maintenance of power equipment.
• Experience in working in utility transmission substation is required.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen due to this being a safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement through active participation in safety programs.
• Coordinate and lead testing and commissioning activities for new and existing electrical transmission and distribution substations (greenfield and brownfield equipment).
• Verify that all testing and commissioning procedures comply with company standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.
• Supervise and direct startup personnel, contractor electricians, and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
• Provide on-site technical support to design engineering, construction teams, and operations personnel throughout project lifecycle.
