Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Commissioning Area Engineer to coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical distribution and transmission substations for utility clients. You will supervise startup teams and coordinate with contractors and engineering staff to ensure safe, efficient project execution.

You will lead field engineering efforts, develop work plans, oversee testing activities, and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry practices, while maintaining

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical equipment testing and inspection, including high voltage applications.
• Knowledge of testing, commissioning and maintenance of power equipment.
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Superior safety record.
• Experience working in utility transmission substations is required.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen due to this being a safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate and lead testing and commissioning activities for substations (greenfield and brownfield).
• Verify that testing and commissioning procedures comply with standards and client requirements.
• Supervise startup personnel and contractor electricians to ensure safe project execution.
• Provide on-site technical support to design engineering, construction, and operations teams.
• Interface with customer contacts and stakeholders to align with operational needs.
