Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Pre-Commissioning Area Engineer to coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical distribution and transmission substations for utility clients. The role involves direct supervision of EPS startup personnel and coordination with contractor electricians and engineering staff on site.

The candidate should have 5+ years in electrical equipment testing and HV applications, with strong management, communication, and safety records.

Qualifications

• BS or 2-year degree in electrical engineering preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical equipment testing and inspection, including HV applications.
• Knowledge of testing, commissioning and maintenance of power equipment.
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Superior safety record.

Responsibilities

• Perform substation field engineering and project testing functions for commissioning of new or modified transmission facilities.
• Review and develop isolation/restoration work plans and functional test plans.
• Direct troubleshooting efforts to resolve functional test deficiencies.
• Mark up field change drawings and close project packages within 30 days of in-service date.
• Provide on-site support to Design Engineering and Transmission Service Center Managers.
• Provide technical guidance on complex problems ensuring customer design standards are met.
