Job summary

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health Department) is seeking a CITTY Research Scientist to analyze substance use data, prepare reports, and support program initiatives. The role involves epidemiology data interpretation, dashboard creation, and collaboration with stakeholders across city agencies.

Qualifications include a Master’s in public health or related field, with options for a Doctorate, and experience in data management and research methods.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in physical, biological, environmental science or public health.
  • Doctorate or master's with relevant supervisory/research experience as specified.
  • Probationary period of one year applies to assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analyses of substance use data from agency surveillance surveys.
  • Analyze substance use Medicaid and hospitalization data for program initiatives.
  • Create publication-quality data tables and reports for internal/external use.
  • Maintain study and data management documentation, including data dictionaries and codebooks.
  • Create data visualizations and PowerPoint presentations from surveillance data.
  • Prepare IRB applications for program and research proposals.
  • Present data in written and oral form to stakeholders.
  • Analyze surveillance and program data and produce dissemination reports.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
