Job summary

The Health Federation of Philadelphia is recruiting for a Substance Use Epidemiologist II to join the Division of Substance Use Prevention and Harm Reduction within the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. The successful candidate will lead collection, management, visualization, and analysis of substance-use datasets and collaborate with harm reduction staff and EMS data teams.

Requirements include a MPH with epidemiology training, 2+ graduate statistics courses, 2–5 years of epidemiology

Qualifications

• Master of Public Health with epidemiology coursework (≥2 grad Epidemiology/advanced methods)
• Two grad-level courses in statistics/biostatistics
• 2–5 years epidemiology experience in academic, public, or private sectors
• Knowledge of substance-use terminology and public health data practices
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills
• Experience with data management and dashboards/reports

Responsibilities

• Abstract, clean, and analyze substance-use datasets
• Develop and refine data visualizations and dashboards
• Build and maintain data collection systems (REDCap)
• Fulfill internal and external data requests
• Obtain IRB approvals when required
• Lead surveillance data reporting and grant data submissions
• Prepare analytic findings for conferences and journals
• Support 1–2 interns or junior staff
