Job summary

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene invites applications for a City Research Scientist to lead data analysis within the Bureau of Public Health Clinics. You will compile datasets, build dashboards, and provide analytical support to inform health policy and service delivery for New Yorkers.

You will work under the Director of Data Analytics and Evaluation, develop standardized definitions, and produce public reports and manuscripts for scientific journals, contributing to

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate field (physical, biological, environmental science or public health).
• Doctorate with relevant supervisory/research experience; or Master's with three years of relevant research experience.

Responsibilities

• Build out and maintain frozen datasets from BPHC sources (medical records, REDCap, and others).
• Create standardized variables and case definitions for demographics, operations, and outcomes.
• Synthesize data streams into dashboards summarizing metrics across clinics, outreach, partnerships, workforce, programs, and admin.
• Develop Epic expertise to inform decision making for local clinic EMR data and Epic reports.
• Perform analyses with a public health and social justice lens to estimate demand and inform resource allocation.
• Provide technical support for data exchange, evaluation projects, and grant work; perform quality control and data transfer as needed.
• Contribute to bureau goals and quality improvement metrics.
• Lead study design and data analysis for research and evaluation projects for high-level decision making.
• Prepare public reports, presentations, and manuscripts for scientific journals.
