Job summary

The New York City Health Department is seeking a City Research Scientist I (Data Analyst) to analyze public health data, prepare routine reports, and support program evaluation with a focus on equity in service delivery. You will work with a multidisciplinary team across the Bureau of Public Health Clinics and other agency programs.

The role requires strong data manipulation, reporting, and communication skills, with experience in R and SAS.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental science or public health.
• For Assignment II and above, a doctorate or Master’s with multiple years of experience in research/supervisory roles is required or equivalent.
• Appointments subject to a one-year probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data from public health records to inform program planning and service delivery.
• Prepare routine data reports for case management and performance indicators.
• Operationalize data requests and create ad hoc reports and slide decks with clear visualizations.
• Produce data dictionaries, annotations, and technical notes for analytic programs.
• Contribute to program evaluation projects addressing equity in service delivery.
