Job summary

New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene seeks a City Research Scientist to conduct sophisticated analyses of surveillance data, Medicaid and hospitalization data, and to create publication-quality tables and reports for internal and external use. The role requires strong epidemiology skills, experience with SAS/R, and ability to develop data dictionaries and documentation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in public health, epidemiology or related field required; doctorate preferred.
• Experience with epidemiology, data management, and dataset documentation.
• Proficiency in SAS, R and data visualization tools; ability to format reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analyses of substance use data from agency surveillance surveys to support program initiatives.
• Analyze Medicaid and hospitalization data to inform program planning.
• Create publication-quality tables and reports for internal and external use.
• Maintain data dictionaries and codebooks; develop study documentation.
• Produce data visualizations and PowerPoint presentations with surveillance summaries.
• Prepare IRB applications for program and research proposals.
• Present data in written and oral form to stakeholders.
• Generate reports for internal and external dissemination; support other projects as assigned.
