Job summary

Grant County is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Professional to deliver counseling, case management, assessment, and treatment planning for individuals with substance use disorders. The role supports recovery with culturally responsive, trauma‑informed care and adherence to WAC/RCW standards.

Positions progress from trainee to higher levels based on competency, credentialing, and performance, with opportunities for clinical leadership within the team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and enrollment in a state-approved SUD education program.
• No experience required but must demonstrate suitability for the field.
• Completed coursework in counseling, psychology, or human services.
• Associate’s degree in social services or behavioral health preferred; 6–12 months of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field desirable; training in MI, relapse prevention, or co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities

• Conducts SUD screenings, diagnostic assessments, and intake evaluations to identify treatment needs and determine eligibility.
• Develops individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and ASAM criteria.
• Provides individual and group counseling using evidence-informed practices.
• Delivers case management services including care coordination and resource linkage.
• Documents services accurately and within required timelines to ensure compliance and billing continuity.
• Monitors client progress and updates treatment plans as needed.
• Collaborates with healthcare providers and community partners to coordinate care.
• Participates in multidisciplinary meetings and trainings to maintain competency.

Education

Meets WAC requirements for independent practice
