Job summary

The Cook Political Report is seeking a Digital Marketing & Engagement Manager to own the growth and performance of our digital subscriber platform. You will write and manage marketing copy; build and optimize transactional and marketing email campaigns; and design conversion strategies to grow and retain our subscriber base, aligned with a nonpartisan political analysis voice for a Washington, DC audience.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional experience in digital marketing, email marketing, or audience development.
• Strong writing across newsletters, social, and transactional emails.
• Hands-on experience with ESPs or marketing CRMs (Customer.io, HubSpot, Mailchimp, SFMC).
• Knowledge of nonpartisan political analysis or business of politics is preferred.
• Ability to maintain a nonpartisan tone in political content.
• Proficiency with Canva and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and manage transactional and marketing email campaigns with segmentation and A/B testing.
• Write clear, compelling copy for newsletters, social media, events, and marketing communications.
• Develop campaigns to convert readers to subscribers and measure funnel performance.
• Own end-to-end publishing for newsletters, coordinating with editors on content and layout.
• Maintain a consistent digital presence across channels including Substack.
• Track metrics and report on performance, recommending optimizations to leadership.
• Collaborate with Communications to track impact of media appearances and optimize outreach.
• Maintain data hygiene and workflows in CRM/ESP for accurate segmentation.
• Explore AI tools to improve data workflows and CRM management.
• Create basic marketing graphics with Canva and work in Google Workspace.
