Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a dynamic Systems Engineer to maintain and improve infrastructure enabling holistic performance assessments of Navy submarine systems. You will lead an internal team to integrate software tools with hardware across levels, balancing sponsor priorities and resources.

The role requires a BS/MS in a relevant field, 5+ years of systems engineering experience, and active security clearances (Secret with TS/SCI possible).

Qualifications

  • BS degree in systems engineering, computer science, computer engineering, engineering science, or related field, or equivalent experience with requirements development and test planning.
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience with SDLC, hardware infrastructure management, software development methodologies, and configuration management.
  • Experience with Linux- and Windows-based systems, data visualization, large-scale relational databases, and network data communications.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate an internal team of software developers and system administrators to develop and maintain an infrastructure combining internal/external software tools with hardware across multiple classification levels.
  • Lead development of holistic engineering solutions balancing resources, priorities, and sponsor tasking.
  • Assist program management with technical project planning and promote sound system engineering and software development practices.
  • Maintain systems and processes that support data processing and groom tactical systems for Fleet engagement events.
  • Collaborate in planning and execution of system performance assessment events and exercises.
  • Advise teams to ensure test scope, objectives, methodologies and analysis requirements are appropriate and rigorous.
