Job summary

Serco Inc. in the Hampton, VA area seeks a skilled NPES Engineer to support U.S. Navy submarine operations and advanced undersea warfare systems.

This role is ideal for former Navy Fire Control Technician or Fire Controlman with submarine experience. The NPES engineer will apply hands-on Navy expertise to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and evaluate fire control and combat systems, collaborating with Navy personnel and engineers to keep systems mission ready and compliant with security

Qualifications

• Active U.S. Department of War (DoW) Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Former U.S. Navy FT/FC or submarine combat system experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Physics, Chemistry, or related field.
• 5+ years’ work experience within DoW or Armed Services.
• Experience with Navy fire control, combat control, weapons control, or related systems.
• Strong reading of technical manuals, system docs, schematics, and engineering docs.
• Ability to travel ~25% as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and operational expertise on Navy submarine fire control and related weapons systems.
• Support operation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation of fire control equipment.
• Analyze system performance and help isolate hardware/software issues.
• Offer SME input on submarine tactical systems and procedures.
• Support verification, validation, and Test & Evaluation activities.
• Review documentation and ensure configurations reflect baselines and changes.
• Assist with test plans, procedures, demonstrations, and technical evaluations.
• Coordinate with Navy operators, engineers, and stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Translate fleet feedback into clear technical requirements and recommendations.
• Prepare reports, briefings, and program documentation.
• Support technical reviews, working groups, and customer engagements.
• Maintain awareness of Navy policies, safety, and security protocols.
