Job summary

Serco Inc. in Virginia is seeking a Submarine Development Professional to join the Keel to Career program supporting the Navy's Columbia Class initiative. The role offers rotation through engineering, design, and development areas with mentorship and resume/interview guidance.

You will gain exposure to submarine construction, quality assurance, risk management, and vendor interfaces while preparing for a career in defense engineering. Travel up to 10% is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.
• At least one year in an accredited university’s engineering, technology, computer science or science.
• An interest in shipbuilding.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• The ability to use a variety of software products (e.g. MS Office).
• Veteran experience in the military is a plus!
• To be able to travel 10%.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a job rotational program to learn various aspects of submarine engineering, design, research and development.
• Potential areas of engagement include structural systems, metallic and non-metallic materials, electrical and electronic systems, propulsion machinery, submarine acoustics, and various submarine support systems.
• Gain familiarity with the Submarine Shipbuilding Industry and be exposed to a broad range of industry vendors, shipbuilding activities, and programmatic tools.
• Gain familiarity in submarine construction and design, submarine quality assurance programs, the Navy’s risk management programs.
• Help facilitate timely design and acquisition decisions.
• Interface with a broad range of experts and stakeholders.
• Be assign a mentor that will assist you in resume development, interview techniques, job searches, and adapt to working in a professional environment.
