Job summary

Seneca Family of Agencies invites a Registered Nurse to join the STEP program in Salinas, CA. The nurse will lead intakes, conduct group and individual check-ins, and support a mind-and-body group for youth aged 12-17, collaborating with counselors, clinicians, a psychiatrist, and the program supervisor.

The STEP program offers DTI and stabilization services with a goal of reintegration into school and the community. A strong nursing foundation and bilingual Spanish skills are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or ADN.
  • Active CA Registered Nurse license.
  • Current CPR-BLS certification.
  • TB test clearance and fingerprinting clearance.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability.
  • At least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate illness or injuries.
  • Lead and support groups in the milieu.
  • Process referrals, schedule intakes, complete physical screenings.
  • Monitor physician orders for medications or treatments and prescriptions filled externally.
  • Maintain relationships with pediatricians, specialists, psychiatrists, therapists, and hospitals.
  • Document nursing interventions and medication records.
  • Attend treatment reviews related to youth health care.
  • Review medical incident reports for shifts.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.

The Nurse on our team will take the lead in delivering high-quality patient care by bringing curiosity and respect during intakes, evoking hope through group and individual clients check-ins, and sharing joy by facilitating a mind and body group for clients. You will have the opportunity to take part of quality improvements and review efforts to make a real impact. As the Nurse on our team you will work alongside our counselors, clinicians, a psychiatrist, and the program supervisor.

About Step

The STEP (Skills, Transitions, Exploration and Progress) Program is located in Salinas, CA. STEP provides Day Treatment Intensive (DTI), short-term stabilization services to youth, ages 12 - 17, for an average of 15 days. Our goal is to reintegrate our youth into schools and the community with lower levels of outpatient mental health treatment. All groups are designed to teach youth the skills necessary to help them learn about their mental health, provide psychoeducation, and help them learn skills to feel better and be safe.

  • Review all medical incident reports for shifts
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing OR
    • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Active CA Registered Nurse license
  • Current CPR-BLS certification
  • At least 21 years of age
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca’s insurance policy
Preferred
  • Psychiatric Nursing experience
  • Bilingual Spanish skill set
  • Good critical-thinking, communication, and organization skills
SCHEDULE
  • Full-time
  • Monday - Friday, 8AM - 4PM
Benefits
  • Starting at $112,101 - $126,101 per year
    • Actual salary is dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role
    • Additional compensation provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency exam
