Job summary

Seneca, in partnership with Kaiser Permanente's STEP program in San Jose, seeks a Per Diem Nurse to deliver high-quality RN care, assess needs, plan treatment, and evaluate outcomes while adhering to regulatory standards.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, serving as a trusted clinical resource and contributing to quality improvement and patient-centered outcomes. The role requires travel to STEP locations and a flexible per diem schedule.

Qualifications

• Active California RN license.
• Current CPR–BLS certification.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability for Seneca insurance.
• Travel to STEP locations is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate referral and intake processes.
• Assess data to form resident care problems and plans.
• Facilitate the Recreational Group for the program.
• Provide all RN-level care on shift.
• Meet regulatory and documentation standards.
• Collaborate with Psychiatrist on meds and consent.
• Work with Clinical Manager on health, safety, and standards.
• Participate in nursing department meetings and activities.

ABOUT STEP

The STEP (Skills, Transitions, Exploration and Progress)Program is a partnership between Kaiser Permanente and Seneca Family of Agencies located in San Jose, CA. STEP provides intensive, short-term stabilization services to youth, ages 12-17, for an average of 15 days. Our goal is to reintegrate our youth into schools and the community with lower levels of outpatient mental health treatment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinates and facilitates referral and intake process
• Collects and analyzes assessment data to formulate resident care problems, individualized outcomes, plans, implements and evaluates nursing interventions
• Facilitates the Recreational Group for the program
• Provides all care required to be given by a RN on shift assigned
• Meets all regulatory and facility documentation standards
• Collaborates with Psychiatrist to ensure quality of medication administration, adequate consents, medical treatment and follow-up
• Collaborates with Clinical Manager to ensure health and safety, infection control, resource utilization, and clinical and rehabilitative standards of care
• Participates in nursing department, staff meetings and other facility activities

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

• Bachelors of Science in Nursing OR
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Active CA Registered Nurse license
• Current CPR – BLS certification
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca’ insurance policy
• TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements

PREFERRED:

• Psychiatric Nursing experience
• Bilingual Spanish skill set
• Excellent critical-thinking, communication, & organization skills

SCHEDULE

• Per Diem; number of shifts will vary
  
  • Monday - Friday; 8am - 4pm
• Travel is required to Santa Clara STEP and at least 2 other STEP locations
  • Program locations: Alameda, Contra Costa, Sonoma, Solano

BENEFITS

• Starting $61.90 - $64.40 per hour, commensurate with experience
• Additional compensation provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency exam
• Salary increases each year
• $2,000 sign-on bonus
