Job summary

Stevens Transport in Dallas, TX is seeking a Student Training Manager to lead the Student Counseling Department and training support functions, ensuring guidance, resources, and coordination for the driver training program.

You will supervise counselors, planners, and the Graduate Yard Coordinator, drive retention strategies, and coordinate milestones in partnership with the Director of Driver Training at Stevens Transport HQ in Dallas.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication with students, drivers, and partners.
• Manage escalated concerns, resolve conflicts, and maintain professionalism.
• Organizational, prioritization, and follow-through skills with multi-tasking.
• Interpret performance data, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Preferred: experience in transportation, logistics, or education.
• Experience supporting student retention and engagement programs.
• Experience developing procedures, departmental goals, or improvement initiatives.
• Experience with AS/400 or related transportation systems.
• 3+ years of leadership/supervisory experience; 5+ years in training/operations preferred.
• Education: High school diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of the Student Counseling Department and related training support functions.
• Coach and develop Student Training Counselors, Planners, and Graduate Yard Coordinator.
• Partner with the Director of Driver Training to develop student success, retention, engagement, and training completion strategies.
• Monitor student progression and coordinate timely interventions.
• Serve as escalation point for student issues and conflict resolution.
• Develop, implement, and maintain processes, policies, and best practices supporting engagement and completion.
• Collaborate with Driver Trainers, Safety, Recruiting, Operations, and other departments to improve the student experience.
• Analyze retention, completion, progression, and satisfaction metrics and recommend improvements.
• Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and development discussions with direct reports.
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation of student interactions and action plans.
• Promote professionalism, accountability, communication, customer service, and continuous improvement.
• Prepare and present departmental performance reports to the Director of Driver Training.
• Identify opportunities to enhance student experience and completion rates.
• Coordinate student planning and graduate yard activities to support milestones.
• Lead special projects and initiatives as assigned.
