Job summary

Rochester Public Schools seeks a paraprofessional to support students with special education services under certified staff, assisting with instructional tasks, data collection, and progress reporting. The role involves supervision before, during, and after school, lunchroom and playground coverage, and implementing behavior plans as needed.

Responsibilities include data collection, collaboration with classroom teachers, and building positive relationships with diverse learners.

Qualifications

• 60 college credits and/or a two-year degree from an accredited college or university. Please include official transcript with application.
• In lieu of college credits or degree, one can complete the Paraeducator Assessments; passing scores in Minnesota are 65% and 70%.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with elementary age students.
• Computer skills preferred.
• Flexibility and the ability to work as a cooperative team member.
• Positive rapport with children including the ability to correct inappropriate student behavior with fairness and consistency.
• Regular, on-time attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support and health support under the direction of certified staff.
• Collect data and communicate academic and behavioral progress.
• Provide support to students in lunchroom and playground in various weather.
• Follow student Behavior Intervention Plans and Emergency Healthcare Plans.
• Move to meet students at their level and provide supervision at meals, recess, and field trips.
• Maintain confidentiality and communicate with staff.
• Build strong relationships with children from diverse backgrounds.
