Job summary

Rochester Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Educational Support Personnel (ESP) paraprofessional to provide on-site instructional support in a school setting. You will assist with implementing IEPs under certified staff supervision, monitor student progress, and communicate updates to teachers and related services staff.

Responsibilities include following Behavior Intervention Plans, helping with personal cares, data collection, and supporting students during meals, recess, and field

Qualifications

• 60 college credits or a two-year degree required; official transcripts must be included.
• In lieu of college credits, the Paraeducator Assessments may be completed; Minnesota passing scores apply.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with elementary age students and computer skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow student Behavior Intervention Plans and Emergency Healthcare Plans.
• Provide support to students with personal cares (toileting, dressing, feeding) as needed.
• Observe and document students' academic and social behaviors.
• Collect data and report progress to teachers and staff.
• Use iPads and educational devices for communication with non-verbal students.
• Support students with de-escalation techniques and supervision as needed.
• Supervise students before, during, and after school; assist at meals and recess.
