Job summary

AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT seeks a Paraprofessional I or II to support students and staff, in general or exceptional education settings. The role includes tasks such as intervention, ACP, and library assistance, with duties spanning lesson support, small-group instruction, and student supervision.

Position is 10-month, part-time (29.5 hours/week) at Centerra Mirage, with a focus on maintaining a productive learning environment and providing essential instructional support.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 60 college credits (100 level or higher) or an Associate's degree.
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
• General clerical experience is preferred.
• Must be able to push, pull, or lift weights of at least 30 pounds.
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
• First Aid and CPR certification (can be obtained by the district).
• Background check must be passable upon employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in executing daily and long-range lesson planning.
• Conduct learning activities with individuals or small groups.
• Guide children to work and play harmoniously and alert teachers to special needs.
• Provide escort and assistance to children as necessary.
• Assist with supervision in classroom, playground, and cafeteria.
• Maintain neat work areas and assist in materials preparation.
• Attend in-service activities and administer basic reading, math, and language assessments.
• Tutor students as needed and maintain records.
