Job summary

AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Paraprofessional III to support teachers in self-contained special education classrooms. You will assist with individualized student programs, classroom prep, and documentation for IEP goals.

The role includes supervision during meals and activities, and collaboration with staff on student progress. Strong communication in English is required; familiarity with Spanish or ASL is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 60 college credits (100 level or higher) or an Associate's degree.
• Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance card required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in formulating individualized student programs.
• Assist in classroom planning and preparation.
• Complete necessary paperwork for individualized curricula.
• Participate in total school functions and extracurricular activities.
• Help students develop social and work skills.
• Assist with implementing IEP objectives and goals.
• May supervise cafeteria and playground areas.
• May accompany teacher on home visits or homebound instruction.
• Assist with medical needs and hygiene care as needed.
• Position students and assist with mobility and seating as required.
• Support behavior modification plans and classroom discipline.
• Refer students to appropriate resources when needed.
• Attend in-service activities to assist instruction.
