Job summary

AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Paraprofessional III to assist teachers in mild to severe special education classrooms. You will help implement individualized student plans, assist with planning and material preparation, and support students with social and daily living skills.

The role requires lifting up to 30 pounds, English language proficiency, and a valid IVP fingerprint clearance. The position is 29.5 hours per week over 10 months, with duties including supervision and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 60 college credits (100 level or higher) or an Associate's degree.
• Must have an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Clerical experience is preferred.
• Experience with special needs students preferred.
• Ability to push/pull or lift at least 30 pounds.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Spanish and ASL knowledge is a plus.
• Background check must be passed.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred or obtainable through the district.

Responsibilities

• Assist in forming individualized student programs.
• Assist in classroom planning and preparation.
• Complete paperwork related to individualized curricula and IEPs.
• Participate in school functions and extracurricular activities.
• Help students develop social and work skills.
• Implement IEP objectives under teacher guidance.
• May supervise cafeteria and playground activities.
• Assist with medical, oral hygiene, and personal care needs.
• Transfer students safely between wheelchairs, chairs, and facilities.
