Job summary

AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a 1 on 1 Special Education Paraprofessional III to support teachers in mild to severe self-contained classrooms in Avondale, AZ. The role involves implementing IEPs, assisting with materials, and providing direct student support.

Calendar notes show 10 months, 12.5 hours per week, 2.5 hours per day, FTE 0.3125. Salary follows a Classified Hourly Salary Schedule; district can provide First Aid/CPR and fingerprints processing as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 60 college credits (100 level or higher), or an Associate's degree or Para Educator assessment.
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card required.
• General clerical experience preferred.
• Experience with special needs preferred.
• Must lift at least 30 pounds.
• Proficient in English (verbal and written).
• Knowledge of Spanish and ASL preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification may be obtained by the district.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Assists in formulating individualized student programs.
• Assists in classroom planning and preparation.
• Completes paperwork for individualized curriculum.
• Participates in school functions and activities.
• Helps each child develop social and work skills.
• Assists with implementing IEP objectives and goals.
• May supervise cafeteria and playground.
• May accompany teacher on home visits or homebound instruction.
• Assists with medical needs and personal hygiene as needed.
• Assists with feeding and positioning of students as necessary.
• Transports students and supports classroom management.
• Maintains files and records as directed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
