Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 2 years college credit or an associate's degree, or successful completion of Parapro Assessment.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write simple correspondence.
• Basic math operations including addition, subtraction, and simple multiplications.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with movement and activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
• Assist teacher in maintaining discipline and classroom management.
• Assist teacher with instructional activities.
• Escort students between rooms during the day.
• Assist with toileting when required.
• Support both special education and general education students.
• Assist in implementing IEPs with instructional staff.
• Supervise students during recess and lunch periods.
• Assist with classroom assignments and materials preparation.
• Flag and report problems to teachers as needed.
