Chicago Public Schools seeks a Student Special Services Advocate to support at-risk youth and school‑aged parents through social, educational, and job training services. The role requires counseling, referrals, and collaboration with counselors, employers, and community organizations to keep students on track toward GED, evening courses, or work‑training programs.

Formación

• Graduation from an accredited educational institution with an Associate's degree, or two years of college plus four years of related experience.
• Knowledge of the functions of social service agencies and the needs of at-risk young adults and school-aged parents.
• Ability to work with at-risk young adults and school-aged parents and to establish and expand community networks; maintain accurate records.

Responsabilidades

• Reviews school records and counsels at-risk youth and school-aged parents to encourage their return to school.
• Confers with counselors and clients to establish educational programs suitable for school-aged parents.
• Develops resource networks and accompanies clients to social service agencies for services and referrals.
• Assists clients in enrolling in GED, evening school, and job training programs.
• Discusses with employers the possibility of reducing work hours to allow continued education.
• Maintains client case files and provides follow-up services.
• Compiles periodic activity reports for supervisory staff and funding sources.
• Meets with community organizations to distribute literature and explain services.
• May counsel student-athletes to meet college entrance requirements.
