Job summary

Manassas Park City Schools is seeking a Student Support Specialist (SSS) at MPES to provide behavioral, social-emotional, and mental wellness support for students within the school setting.

The role collaborates with families, staff, and administrators to promote well-being, engagement, and a safe school climate, including crisis response and threat assessment duties as part of a multidisciplinary approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in elementary education, special education or counseling.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Experience with diverse student populations and inclusive practices.
• Ability to develop positive relationships with students, staff and families.
• Knowledge of behavior management and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Support behavioral, social-emotional, mental wellness and student needs within the school.
• Collaborate with administrators, counselors and teachers to promote a positive climate.
• Coordinate and support schoolwide behavior management systems and data collection.
• Lead behavioral interventions and coordinate communication with families.
• Develop and monitor individual behavior plans and FBAs in collaboration with relevant staff.
• Assist with crisis response, threat assessment processes, and incident follow-up.
• Maintain confidential records and documentation in compliance with laws and procedures.
