Job summary

Tri-County Technical College in South Carolina is seeking a part-time/temporary Student Retention Specialist to support the Comprehensive Studies Department. You will identify at-risk students, provide targeted interventions, and help connect them with tutoring, counseling, and campus resources to improve persistence.

The role emphasizes collaboration with faculty and staff, maintaining documentation, and conducting outreach at the start of each semester, with additional support for Flex Labs

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or higher preferred.
• Experience with at-risk populations preferred.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and supports at-risk students through targeted interventions and early alert processes.
• Documents telephone, e-mail, and face-to-face contacts and maintains student files.
• Monitors student progress by staying in contact with students and instructors.
• Makes classroom visits at the beginning of each semester to establish resources and contact information.
• Facilitates referrals to tutoring, Math+Lab, Student Development and Wellness, Accessibility Resource Center, Financial Aid, Career Services, and other campus resources.
• Assists with student outreach and check-ins at the start of each semester.
• Supports adjunct faculty and provides as-needed help to the Comprehensive Studies Flex Labs and Academic Success Lab.
